Unexpected and Unstoppable

Since I was twelve I have had a secret obsession with Doc Martens.  Yes you heard me, prissy, dainty, high-maintanence Rebecca has a fetish with the most fantastically chunky combat boots.  Of course, in my tender and awkward middle school days I was FAR too self-conscious to rock the look without getting an eyebrow raise from the rest of my Abercrombie clad classmates.  Now, on the other hand, I would wear them in a heartbeat, though statement combat boots would certainly stand out among my repertoire of monogrammed accessories and my sorority-hopeful filled school.  Many people think Doc Martens are too risky, but if one does a little digging, FABULOUS pairs begin to appear.  One must only first get past dark goth black and shiny big bird yellow monstrosities.  A picture of the most personality fitting Docs did start this obsession a while back on Polyvore.  Unfortunately, I cannot find them to purchase anywhere now!  HELP!!
What an ironic pair, huh?  Yet, they are so perfectly balanced, and I cannot resist the perfectly oversized sequins combined with the fairy-tale laces.  This statement pair is my all time favorite.
If I were to take a risk and wear Doc Martens in Sweet Home Alabama I would certainly want a pair that is a perfect mix of my girly aesthetic and a dash of an eclectic twist to mix it up a little.

Below are some more pairs I am drooling over: (but it is a classy drool!)
In a luxurious velvety oxblood this pair caught my eye.  How cute would this plush, vintage pair be with a sundress or pearls?  Unexpected right?

Who can resist a funky leopard?  Treat this crazy print as a neutral and cool-factor is instantly upped.
A simple and buttery oxblood pair would be an option that allows me to keep a foot in my comfort zone.

In a search for my #1 FAVORITE sequined pair, I uncovered this shimmering jewel!  This pair would be unstoppable in a shorter version.  I love the toned down metallic.

One must never overdo preppy pieces, and a floral on black print could be oh, so fabulous mixed with an oxford or nautical stripes.  What better way to add a little edge?

Fashion Education Chapter 2

So, I know it's been a while since my last post on fashion education, but I plan to start it back up with daily tips... let's see how it goes!
Please let me know of any tweaks or changes I can make to help this series of posts better in the future! (commenting below helps)

For this post, we are going to talk about NETWORKING because it is one of the MOST important factors in succeeding in the fashion business.

To start off, you need to know exactly what networking is before we go any further. Networking in the fashion world is basically finding and creating connections within the industry. Forming connections is vital because it will not only land you that internship, but when it will also help you later in your career as well. For example, if you are applying for an authoritative spot, the employer will most likely choose the candidate who they know of rather than a stranger if both of you have the same credentials. On the other hand, if you are the "boss", then it comes in handy during business deals when you are attempting to gain support or customers when you know them.
Breaking into the fashion industry is one of the most challenging tasks. The solution? NETWORKING. Maybe your parents have an old friend from high school who works in the field, or maybe your mom's co-worker's cousin is marketing specialist for Ann Taylor. Who knows!? Finding a connection like that, no matter how close, is what will give you the little push that you need. Once you're in, you're in because it becomes easier. Keep up a good reputation, and network more. You may run into that assistant your were interning under, and she may have been promoted to editor, and now she needs to hire a new assistant... See? The possibilities are endless!

Celine Crush

I can be compared to many other girls in the world, due to the fact that I have an extensive and ever-growing list of handbags I would love to own.  For as long as I can remember, I have coveted the Celine Luggage Tote.  I am not sure what it is about the bag that makes me adore it!  The combination of the structured lines, unexpected details and never-ending color choices might have something to do with it!  Krystal Schlegel's tote blends seamlessly into outfit after outfit, while Blair of Atlantic-Pacific showcases a red stunner.  With bloggers constantly featuring this luxury, I might eventually cave and make a big purchase.

If I were to invest in a handbag with such a hefty price tag, I would choose a neutral color!  Schlegel's white, black, and camel bag is absolutely stunning, while the one above from the Fall 2012 collection could be combined with anything and has a subtle blue pop.  This post partially serves as medication for my crazies for this handbag!  Thank goodness for ClassynotClashy as a way to vent!

The Emerald City

The Emerald City

I can not choose my favorite color from the palette of this Fall's colors!  It might just be for the simple reason that I am a notoriously indecisive person, but I prefer to lean toward the fact that every shade is so rich and luxurious!
I chose the opulent EMERALD GREEN to feature!  This green has the perfect amount of sassiness while having a regal feel at the same time.  The more I look at it the more I fall in love!
You can add dashes of the hue to "spruce" up an outfit and give a little personality!  It looks fabulous with almost any color, and I am tempted to encourage my obsession by regarding the foresty shade as a neutral!  I feel that chocolate brown heavily complements the green tone while adding a warmth and richness!
Although emerald is popular this season, by investing in classic pieces I know I will be wearing it for years to come!  With the coming of emerald green into my wardrobe, I sure am not in Kansas anymore...and I do not want to go back!
